Nice but overpriced by

We went to the Waterfall Lodge at Chamonix. The cottage itself is smaller than the photos make it look and incredibly dark! The hot water facilities are not great - the boiler turns on and off at will so having a shower is not an enjoyable experience, plus it's the leakiest shower so have to surround yourself in shower curtains. The location itself is wonderful, and had the weather been kinder to us I'm sure would have been lovely to sit outside and enjoy the surroundings and view. It is also very private (although nearby land clearing suggests perhaps not for long). It's not walkable to the village (whereas the more basic (and cheaper) cottages are), which is a shame. All in all, the location is excellent if you want to sit and braai for all your visit, but less so if you want to walk into the village in the evenings. The cottage is small enough for 2 but a push to have 4 in there, especially with the aforementioned shower problems. Overpriced and would recommend the B+Bs in the village as a better alternative.

Lovely location by

The cottage was very neat and clean. Everything that can be expected for a nights accommodation for R500,00! Value for money. Will recommend cottage to friends. Keep it simple and affordable.! Thank you.

Rest and relax gaurenteed by

The establishment views and room decor are amazing. Only reason I didn't give it 4 stars is that on 2 of the 3 nights we were there we didn't have water to bath.

Hidden gem with stunning views by

what a beautiful view overlooking the franschoek mountains and lots of animals, the lodge was inviting, friendly and the staff were very accommodating, the only think that freaked me out was the amount of game trophies on the walls , so if you are an animal lover u won't enjoy the amount of various stuffed animals as the over "kill" decor in every room of the lodge
