Clarens is a small town situated in the foothills of the Maluti Mountains in the Free State province of South Africa, and nicknamed the Jewel of the Eastern Free State. Rooiland boasts magnificent views of the sandstone mountains surrounding Clarens. Situated in a lush garden on a 3,000 square metre stand, it offers two separate cottages; Rooiland Bergsig which sleeps four to six guests and Rooiland Tuinsig which sleeps two to four guests. The self-catering cottages are within walking distance of all shops, galleries, restaurants, and many more attractions. To name just a few activities in the area, there are numerous hiking trails in and around Clarens and on surrounding farms, guests can visit some of the numerous sandstone caves to view ancient Bushmen paintings, and visit the Golden Gate Nature Reserve which is very close to Clarens.
