COVA DE TUBARAU REVIEWS (59 %) Quiet and close to the beach by Keneuwe Monakale, South Africa 30 July 2013 Overall experience was good but during our stay we never had room service. Our room also had a funny smell. Overall hygiene standards are not good but the place is beautiful. The bathroom we couldn't even brush our teeth there, it was dirty. Cova by Chisani Madadzhe, South Africa 09 December 2013 The place is good and we enjoyed. Staff very friendly and the place is clean. Hammer head experience by Aobakwe Motlhake, South Africa 05 January 2015 Our first challenge was that the ferry was broken however Friekkie (Manager at Cova) arrange for a boat to take us across and after that hell broke loose. Hammer head was literally not ready for us, the manager tried to open the sliding door and it was derailing over and over again. After opening, he said "that's your place, I hope you'll enjoy" and he was gone. There was no orientation but we figured out why.
The restroom/bathroom
You don't want to use that. The shower is cut and joints, some part is plastic, some wood and glass, you don't want the plastic shield to touch you. The water from the shower flows to the sitting area and there is a carpet there (very smelly). The basin table rusted to the last extend. The painting done is incomplete why? I don't know.
The bedrooms
The bedding was not fresh and asking for a fresh bedding triggered the other side of Friekkie. He lost it and started swearing in Afrikaans, called the cleaners and started shouting at them (not cool at all). The mosquito nets were very dirty you could smell dust on them, never mind the colour.
The sitting room
The carpet was wet due to dirty water from the shower, the sofas were dirty and had marks on them
We asked the guys there for cleaning material to clean the whole place for ourselves. It really smelled fresh and better.
He called someone (maybe his boss) telling him that we are giving problems. He also called someone again saying these South African are full of crap, Mozambicans always come and don't complain about anything.
Other holidaymaker asked us if we were at Cova, they could not understand how we were coping because they were once there and they wont go there again simply because of the treatment. They said they are rude at Cova
On our second day, we discovered a bat in one of the bedrooms and we just called it a day. The next day we left.
You can see the idea and theme as you walk around but I think the main problem is the person looking after the place. This place is about 20m from the sea and it should be a gem not a shack about to fall on itself.
There is a lot to say but I'm stopping. The place sucks Period by Aobakwe Motlhake, South Africa 06 January 2015 The place is perfectly positioned. The management of the place however is not up to scratch. The manager is not friendly and the place is really being managed into the ground. The place was not clean (linen, mosquito nets , ablution facilities, showers, kitchen etc.)
I would never visit nor recommend the place to anyone. EVERYTHING! by Angela Van Der Schyff 29 May 2018 AMAZING - everything! Mid week break at Rolieze by Jenny Dell 14 June 2018 Lovely place to stay mid week when it is quiet. Chalet had everything we needed. Very comfortable beds...... much appreciated as the quality of beds is always an issue COVA DE TUBARAU LOCATION
