Dabis Guest FarmHelmeringhausen, Karas, Namibia Guest House from R 960 (family units from R 1,920) | R 960 |
Since 1926, Dabis has been owned by the Gaugler family and is now run by the fourth generation. We have achieved an effective balance between welcoming visitors and operating as an authentic farm. Dabis Guest Farm is an interesting stopover not to be missed when traveling through Namibia's south.
Guests can enjoy personal service, and a firsthand introduction on how we live sustainably in this semi-desert. This a unique adventure, especially for small to medium sized groups who have a specific interest in desert ecology and sustainability.
Guests can arrive early afternoon, have tea or coffee and then join us on a farm drive for an hour or two. In-depth farming techniques will be explained, complete with information on the area's climate over the last four decades. Dabis now farms mainly with crossbred sheep, for meat production, using advanced rotation techniques to survive on the low rainfall. Although the main emphasis is on farming, there are a number of other small animals on the farm to be seen.
