Da Loose Mongoose Beach Lodge

Da Loose Mongoose Beach Lodge is a relaxing lodge, where you can experience Zanzibar culture, food and lifestyle, while soaking up the sun. The lodge is located in the lovely little rural fishing village of Jambiani, on the south east cost of Zanzibar. Jambiani is just over an hour's drive from Stone Town.

In Jambiani, bicycles are the main means of transport. For most of the men, old and young, fishing is their way of providing for their families and you will always see plenty of beautiful, mango tree hand-carved dhows, with cream-white sails, sailing to or from the reef. Some men will offer to take tourists out closer to the reef to snorkel in the sea of many blues. The ladies, covered in such bright dresses earn their part of living in the shallow waters of the big blue. It remains amazing to discover the seaweed farms on the floor of the ocean every day when the tide pulls back. The ladies move as the water starts disappearing and they either plant, plan or harvest the seaweed.

Da Loose Mongoose Beach Lodge offers accommodation in seven double rooms, and two triple rooms. Each room features an en-suite bathroom with hot water, a fan and a mosquito net.

Da Loose Mongoose Beach Lodge has an open-sided beach bar and restaurant where breakfast, lunch, snacks and supper can be enjoyed while enjoying the view of the sea. The lodge also offers an open lounge area with a selection of books, games and puzzles. Wi-Fi internet access is also available.

Along the beach you will also find a couple of bars and restaurants, most of them with a Rastafarian theme and background music. The local beach is good for swimming at high tide and excellent opportunity at low tide to walk far into the sea and explore the small marine life.
