Nestled at the foothills of the Magaliesberg Mountains, Rustenburg is ideally situated for visiting the attractions of the North West Province. The city is known for its rich platinum mines as well as being the home of the Bafokeng Nation, one of South Africa's richest tribes reigned by King Leruo Molotlegi.

The best views of Rustenburg are from the Peglarea Trail at Kgaswane Mountain Reserve. Rising above the city on the northern slopes of the Magaliesberg, the 5,300-hectare reserve offers four trails, increasing in length and difficulty.
