Akkerboom Country Cottages comprises three self-catering cottages on a working farm nestled along a stream between the Langeberg Mountains and the Little Karoo. The cottages offer an ideal family holiday venue which is only 2.5 hours from Cape Town.

Each cottage offers en-suite bedrooms, a fireplace and private braai facilities. There is a communal swimming pool and all linen, towels and firewood are supplied. Cottages are screened by indigenous shrubs with stunning views down the Tradouw Valley and onto the orchards and mountains. Akkerboom Country Cottages provides an ideal base from which to explore the attractions of the Little Karoo, or simply the opportunity to relax and enjoy the silence.

The farm lies 40 km from Montagu at the top of the Tradouw Pass and it offers stunning views. We provide easy access to a range of activities in the area. We offer fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, birdwatching and stargazing. Akkerboom Trading Post is located nearby and it provides wine tasting and lovely meals.

Our Stay at Akkerboom by

Cottage was adequate for our needs and stay . We were visited by a crowd of young farm teenagers who did hang around a bit too long and made my husband feel uncomfortable 

Bad experience by

We were booked into the wrong cottage after we phoned to ask where our wood for the braai is. We had to pack up everything (including all the baby stuff) and then moved to another cottage.

Upon arrival to the new cottage, you could see that the floors were full of dust and has not been cleaned in a very long time. Pool was also dirty.

We also discovered LATE at night when trying to bath my 9month old that we also do not have ANY water. They do warn upon arrival that the water pressure is low....but there is a difference between LOW pressure and NO WATER at all. If it was not late at night I would have gathered all my things and I would have found another place to stay.

Very sad because the place has a lot of potential. I would have like to get a refund after all the inconvenience we were put through.
