Banana House and Wellness Centre on Lamu Island welcomes you wholeheartedly and invites you to visit us for an unforgettable holiday experience. Shela is a small village on Lamu Island, 45 minutes' walk from Lamu Town and situated at the point of the island. Here the white sanded beach and the dunes stretch out for hours of undisturbed walking and pure bliss.

The house is simply and tastefully furnished in Swahili style, with many different sitting areas, daybeds and hammocks. Guests have a choice of six comfortably furnished double rooms or the penthouse, all of which are air-conditioned. Banana House offers a well equipped kitchen with an excellent cook and friendly staff and gives their guests the opportunity to prepare lunch or dinner on request. Vegetarian meals are also available. Airport transfers are provided for two guests at no extra costs.

The Banana House wellness centre is situated on the ground floor around a large acacia tree. The rooftop of the wellness centre is unique in Shela; a meditation room built out of bottles, with views of the sea and Manda Island and beautiful sunsets over the dunes.

Guests can enjoy a variety of activities in the area, including sailing, dinner on a traditional dhow, traditional Swahili dinners, evenings of Swahili drumming, deep-sea fishing, and turtle or dolphin watching.
