Baytil Amman is a wonderful renovated guest house located in the centre of Shela Village, overlooking an open garden with a fountain. The building ruins remained untouched and intact for years, adding to the charm of the building and creating a peaceful atmosphere.
There are six spacious en-suite rooms with hand carved furnishings, mosquito nets and traditional Swahili features. The rooftop terrace gives wonderful views of the sea and the surrounding village, and is often used for special functions, Swahili dinners and other occasions, where guests can enjoy dinner under the stars. Traditional wall carvings have been beautifully restored to re-create the Swahili feel and décor of the old building.
The hotel is locally owned and therefore is not licensed to sell alcohol. Fresh fruit juices, Swahili dishes and fresh seafood are served daily. The restaurant is located on the ground floor in and around the central courtyard of the house.
