Blue Banana Lodge offers comfortable and affordable accommodation in the heart of Mthatha. When staying at the lodge, guests have a choice of six comfortable rooms furnished with queen-size or single beds.

Each room has a TV with local channels and DStv, and some rooms have en-suite bathrooms with baths or showers. A communal lounge is equipped with a TV and also has a fireplace to create a homely atmosphere. Breakfast is provided and safe parking is provided for guests' vehicles.

The lodge is situated a short drive from the city centre and the area offers a variety of attractions. Mthatha is located in the heart of the Nelson Mandela Route which starts in King Williams Town and moves through Bisho and along the N2. The Nelson Mandela Museum opened 10 years ago after he was released from prison. Guests can also visit various nature reserves, and the Wild Coast Golf Course offers an 18-hole course for the golfers.

The lodge was clean, very comfortable and very affordable. We were made to feel very welcome and the owners were very hospitable and did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Management required by

This place has potential with nice rooms, however the house and gardens are dilapidated. The lodge is not marked and no address given. Had to get keys from neighbouring guesthouse and as there was only one set, had to give it back every time we wanted to go out somewhere. We even got phoned up while asleep at night to open for other guests - who then left again, leaving the front door and gate wide open.



Very unhappy. Booked Blue lodge ended moved to Innoview 1 and they attempted to move us to lodge number 3
Second room not available till after 10pm.
Phoned owner to come and resolve 33 times she never answered the phone up to day. No key to bedroom. No breakfast contrary to what home page states. No hot water in the rooms. Chaos of first order.




Not the greatest by

No keys to lock our doors, our clothing was removed from the cupboards and place on the bed for no apparent reason.
The shower door was broken so the bathroom floor was always wet. We were under the impression that the bathrooms were on suite but four men had to share one bathroom.
