Boorgat is located in Sutherland in the Northern Cape and consists of The Velvet Olive and De Oude Waenhuys. The Velvet Olive is one of the oldest houses in town and was built in 1860. Both are fully equipped and a maximum of 10 guests can be accommodated.
The Velvet Olive offers 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There is a lounge with a fireplace, an open-plan kitchen, and a dining room with a wood stove. The kitchen is equipped with an electric stove, microwave, fridge, and indoor braai.
De Oude Waenhuys, which is on the same property, is a beautifully restored cottage with an open-plan bedroom and lounge area with a fireplace as well as a kitchen. The bathroom is fitted with a bath and a separate toilet. The bath has a handheld shower piece.
Warm blankets are provided for those cold winter nights and guests are welcome to make use of the fireplaces an d heaters. The Velvet Olive is equipped with an indoor braai. The outdoor braai areas are excellent for stargazing and social gatherings.
Delectable Karoo cuisine can be enjoyed at the restaurants in Sutherland, and there are a variety of attraction to enjoy in the area, including the Sutherland Museum, Sterland Stargazing, the Sutherland Planetarium, and the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT).
