Comfort Palace Gästehaus

We had an interesting experience at the Comfort Palace which is situated not in an old suburb in a leafy garden as described, but in a poor township on the outskirts of the city among many shack-type houses. However the guest house itself was very comfortable and spotlessly clean.

No one knew that we were coming ? the fault of the owner who did not inform the 2 staff in the house when we arrived ? and no one  had any record of our payment or knew how much still had to be paid. They also did not understand US$ / pula rates so I do not know how they could insist in payment in a currency which clearly was foreign to them.

There was no food in the kitchen, not even milk and as the professional chef was at Kasane it was not possible to have breakfast so we deducted +- R35 pp from the bill. The owner had not arrived by 8am the following morning and although the staff [ a night watchman and one lady ]were very pleasant they clearly had no idea of what to do with us so we left a note for the owner with the balance owing in a mixture of pula and dollars.

We can recommend the actual accommodation but the management was chaotic! I think that any overseas guests would not have handled the situation so would not recommend it for anyone other than locals. Francistown was without water or electricity but the guest house had a powerful generator to give us lights, and we made do without water by using buckets from the swimming pool again not the fault of the owner.
