Dancing Gheko Lodge is situated in Sterkstroom and offers comfortable overnight accommodation with friendly hospitality. The area is a rustic town characterised by rural firms on the outskirts, surrounded by villages and townships.
There are 12 rooms, all with double beds and wash basins. This is the ideal place for backpacker accommodation. One room has a private en-suite bathroom and the other 11 rooms share three bathrooms. Breakfast and lunch are available on request. We have a licensed bar with a pool table for entertainment, as well as braai facilities.
Sterkstroom lies in the Sterkstroom River valley, a beautiful combination of the imposing Stromberg and Bamboesberg mountain amphitheatre and the rolling veld of the surrounding plains. Sterkstroom was named after the strong flowing Hex River which flows past the town.
The Sterkstroom hiking trail, about 10 km long, can easily be walked within a day. It ventures past the Marico waterfall, only accessible on foot as there are no roads in the vicinity. Other attractions in the area include the Henry Edward Halse Waterfowl Reserve and bass fishing in a few dams in the area.
