Perched on the Alverstone hill with panoramic views of the Assagay Valley is an African style lodge set in log and stone offering serenity, relaxation and warm hospitality. An avenue of grand old trees welcomes you by laying down a carpet of golden autumn leaves with the changing of the seasons. Set on four acres of beautiful indigenous garden, Kangelani Lodge is towered by giant Aloes reaching into the African sky.

All bedrooms have their own private bathrooms and separate entrances. Outside entertainment area with pool, a boma fire for those chilly nights and enjoy private dining in the underground Cellar. Kangelani Lodge is the perfect setting for small garden weddings and conferences.

Kangelani Lodge is conveniently situated with easy access to the M13 an N3 freeways. We are only 20 minutes from Durban, 30 minutes from PMB and only five minutes from Central Hillcrest for all amenities and great dining. This ideal location makes Kangelani Lodge a perfect getaway or business stopover.

Tranquility at its best by

Thank you so much to Stephanie and her team at the lodge. Our party of 13 really enjoyed every moment of our stay. All our needs were met and it was divine, being such a big group we still enjoyed the peace and tranquility that the lodge offers. we will definitely be back.

Great stay by

An absolute gem in Assagay. Brilliant guest lodge, with great food, and space to rest and really enjoy the scenic area. Out door bar is fantastic space and the outdoor shower was a highlight. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Hospitality personified by

Warm welcome awaits one followed by hospitality personified from owner and manager alike. Wonderfully warm Jacquie makes one feel right at home. Rooms are comfortable and the rate is excellent value for money. Perfect breakfasts.



We had a wonderful time away from the everyday life (the rat race and concrete jungle). There are no words to describe the tranquility and stunning view which Kangelani Lodge had to offer ? Can't wait to see what it looks like in the summer. What a pity our stay was so short. Never the less, Thanks for your hospitality as we had a great weekend and we will definitely be back in the future!
