Kingfisher Cottage is a rustic, comfortable and spacious self-catering cottage nestling in the foothills of the Giant's Castle region of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg mountain range (World Heritage Site). The Kamberg Valley is notably one of the prettiest and scenically beautifully in the KwaZulu Natal Province.
The cottage sleeps four, in two separate bedrooms; the bedrooms each have a doublebed. Electric blankets, double; a large bathroom with both shower and bath; plus toilet; and another toilet down the passage; an open fireplace and a spacious covered patio overlooking the dam, all add up to a congenial place for an "away from it all" peaceful break. Minimum stay 2 nights, the rate is R 1400.00 per night for a maximum of 4 people.
Local attractions and things to do range from: trout fishing on the Little Mooi on the property: (access to the Bushmans River at Giant's Castle reserve, half an hours drive away), and Highmoor Nature reserve, with two trophy dams, 15 minutes away. (Highmoor is one of the best still water fisheries in the country; booking essential), a visit to the Crane Rehabilitation Centre, San Rock Art at both Kamberg Nature reserve and at Giant's Castle reserve, to horse trails nearby (booking essential), golf, excellent hiking opportunities in three Nature Reserves where Eland abound, a simple picnic on the banks of the Little Mooi (on the property). Enjoy the great variety of bird life, or may be.... just come and relax.
Please note that entrance to the Nature Reserves is upon payment of a small fee and all fishing requires the payment of a rod fee.
