Only 18 km outside of Tarkastad Knowsley Country Cottage is a convenient stop over for travellers and holiday makers looking for a country getaway. It is situated on a stock farm in the scenic Winterberg Nature Concervancy of the Eastern Cape. The self-catering cottage is available on a bed and breakfast or self-catering basis.

The cottages sleeps eight people and is fully-equipped for self-catering. There are four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchenette and spacious lounge. The lounge has a large fireplace, ideal for the cold winter evenings. Outside guest will find a small pool and a beautiful braai area. Fire wood is provided.

You can choose between self-catering or bed and breakfast with the option of enjoying delicious farm cooked meals. There is a take away menu for self-catering, were you can have braai packs or homemade pies made.

There are a number of farm outings for the kids and a 4x4 drive to a spectacular look-out point can be arranged on special request. Why not visit Thobelani, where you can meet the amazing ladies who craft beautiful pottery pieces or even have a pottery session of your own.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area. There are walking and biking trails on the farm, but the cottage with its large garden overlooking lucern lands is the perfect place to chill and gaze out at the mountains.

For bookings of less than three people there is a unit rate of R948.

Fabulous by

We had a fabulous time at Knowsley over the Easter Weekend. The cottage is spacious and comfy. We lit up the fire in the fire-place every night which made it warm and cosy inside. We were even allowed to bring my sister's dog with - and Casey enjoyed the open space outside. We did the green and red trail on bike - loved the scenery and the peaceful tranquillity of the 'platteland'.

Lovely farmstay by

We had a wonderful, restful stay at the well-appointed Knowsley Country Cottage. It is very peaceful, and we enjoyed the garden and the walks on the farm.

Unfortunately nothing by

We were charged for accommodation in self-catering Knowsley cottage. Although we accepted the cottage attached to the house after we were informed that the Knowsley cottage was booked for the night, our accommodation was below average. No wash basin for dishes, no spoons, no dishclothes, etc. We feel that we should have been charged less for this accommodation. We never saw the actual Knowsley Cottage!
