La Plume Guest House is a 1902 Victorian homestead, set in the tranquil Olifantsrivier Valley on a working ostrich, alfalfa and vine farm. La Plume commands spectacular views of the Swartberg Mountains and is a place of rejuvenation; an unexpected oasis and a place of opulent indulgence.
Roll to a halt on the crunching pebbles and Pieter, the famous La Plume porter, will appear as if by magic. By the time Lena and Christel have greeted you like a long awaited friend come home, and Linda and Corlu have signed you in, you will be enjoying your welcome drink on the wide veranda, looking across the manicured garden and over the vast Olifants River Valley.
The luxury rooms at La Plume are spacious and a cool rampart against the hot Karoo sun. Rich fabrics blend with the aromas of polished wood and tanned leather, while selected pictures bridge the chivalric charm of carefully selected antique furniture lovingly collected over many years and modern amenities so effortlessly blended by Karin's elegant hand. The attention to detail that marks every room defines the La Plume experience, sumptuousness. Different types of ostrich feathers grace the doors to rooms, each with an individual unique signature of colour and aroma and furnishing.
Our wonderfully run kitchen is a very busy place offering traditional meat dishes, apple pie, vegetable creations and salads, to name but a few. All wants and needs are addressed at La Plume, and individuals and couples, groups and families, are all catered for in a unique and special manner.
At La Plume Guest House, we are happy to help with valuable suggestions on your planned activities. We know Oudtshoorn very well and would like to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. La Plume offers, by prior arrangement, first-hand tours of the activities on our commercial farm - a must-see for anyone visiting the Klein Karoo. There are plenty of other activities in the surrounding area including bird-watching, hiking in the fynbos, mountain biking, cycling, star-gazing, and leisurely walks. We are also within an easy distance of the Cango Caves, ostrich show farms and wine estates.
You will be unable to resist the sparkling pool set among lush lawns and and never-ending views when you return after a day's activity.
