Lions Ridge

Lions Ridge is a privately owned safari lodge in the Welgevonden Big Five game reserve available for exclusive use on a self-catering basis.

The reserve is a 2.5-hour drive north of Johannesburg, reachable on excellent roads. We offer a flexible choice of two ensuite king-size chalets and two villas with connecting bedrooms, one for upto four guests and the other for upto six guests, suitable for families.

Lions Ridge accommodates up to eight guests for a minimum of two nights and larger parties of up to 14 subject to the availability of an extra guide and vehicle. As a self-catering lodge you bring the food, we cook! Delicious meals tailored to your requirements and prepared by our chef.

We have two game drives a day each approximately 2.5 - 3 hours. Our guides are passionate and professional, with in-depth knowledge of our wildlife and reserve. This is a malaria free reserve which stretches over 38 000 hectares. It is home to the Big Five as well as 129 mammals, 350 birds and 2,000 plant species. The combination of the Waterberg Mountains and the lowland bushveld supports a wide diversity of mammal species in the reserve.
