Along the coast, between Grand Baie and Cap Malheureux lies the spectacular Pereybere Beach. The waters here are deeper than most of the lagoons that surround Mauritius; because of this there is a deeper blue hue to enjoy. Sand soccer games and kitesurfing, along with some great swimming, keeps everyone in shape on Pereybere. The Pereybere Beach is also known for shopping and its lively pubs and restaurants.
Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat. The summer months are from December to April, when it can be extremely humid, and the winter runs from May to November. This season is cooler and drier.
Tour the Moka Mountains on a quad bike or a horse and enjoy a 4x4 drive at the accessible nature park of Domaine Les Pailles. Travel to the sugar mill and rum distillery by train or horse-drawn carriage before dining in one of four restaurants. Head to Grand Baie for water sports such as parasailing, an underwater walk, submarine and semi-submersible scooters, or to La Cuvette, a long silky beach with clear water between Grand Baie and Cap Malheureux, for sailing, windsurfing and waterskiing. Pereybere is one of the best swimming beaches in Mauritius.
