Lupela Nature Reserve is situated in a peaceful and scenic valley in the Witteberg Mountains on the farm Camp, 17.5 km from Lady-Grey on the R58. There is a 5.4km stretch of gravel road from the R58 to the farm camp. Here you have the opportunity to do fishing, day hikes, swimming, bird watching and mountain biking or just relaxing. Our accommodation consists of a spacious self-catering cottage with 5 en-suite bedrooms sleeping maximum of 10 people. A fully equipped kitchen with hot water, electric stove fridge and microwave. Lounge with big fireplace and a pub area. Outside braai facilities. This cottage overlooks the river and has a beautiful view of the mountains. Electric blankets in the winter on all beds. All Bedding and towels provided. Mountain Rheebuck can be seen from the porch with binoculars. Cottage gets serviced once a day. Use of cottage is for one group exclusively. We offer Day hikes returning to base camp every night. Hikes vary from very easy to challenging into the mountains or next to the river with breathtaking scenery. The Karnemelkspruit flows for 7km through the property and you can enjoy fishing one of the best trout streams in the country. Rod Fee's are R75 per rod. Catch and release only. Swim in the crystal clear mountain pools. A wide variety of birds are to be seen in this area including the Black Eagle and Bearded Vulture. Lovely biking routes in the district. Bring own bikes. Can be seen on the property and is about 2 hours walk along the river, a very scenic walk. Only if water permits and is done at own risk.
