Mermaid Guest House is situated in the picturesque town of Struisbaai, five km from the southernmost tip of Africa. We have six en-suite rooms with sea views on the first floor and two family units sleeping six and four people respectively, on the ground floor.

We have a fully licensed restaurant, comfortably seating 30 people and an indoor braai/barbecue. We also cater for business meetings with a conference facility seating 20 people. Guests can relax in our swimming pool during the summer days or sit in front of the fireplace during the winter months.

We are within a 400 m walking distance from the main swimming beach as well as all other amenities in town. Visit our famous working lighthouse, the historical harbour and the southernmost tip of Africa where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet.

For the more adventurous person there is whale and dolphin watching, deep sea fishing, kite and windsurfing, and the Spookdraai and Rasperpunt hiking trails. We also cater for nature lovers and welcome bird watchers, as well as anyone wanting to discover the beautiful proteas and fynbos.

We had a wonderful stay at the Mermaid. They have a prime location in Struisbaai, with the beach, shops and harbour within walking distance. The atmosphere is inviting and homely and the staff are great!! Will definitely visit again.

An amazing experience! by

Although we only stayed over for one night, it was amazing! Jaco (and the rest) are very friendly and helpful! The mattress is thick and comfy, the rooms are clean and the nautical theme pulled throughout. We almost cancelled the rest of our trip to stay at Mermaid! It really was the highlight of our five day trip and we will stay there again.



We really enjoyed our stay at Mermaid Guest House.  The rooms were lovely, the staff was very friendly and there was a lot of choice for breakfast.  My daughter enjoyed the pool and lilos and we felt quite at home.  The steep staircase to the room was a bit difficult to navigate at first but we soon got used to it.  The guest house is in a good location, very close to the beach and shops.  We will definitely stay at Mermaid again if we go to Struisbaai again.

Beautifully decorated rooms. Christel went out of her way to make us feel at home. Great breakfast with freshly prepared home made bread. Definitely our favorite choice for stays in Struisbaai.
