16 Night Namibia Adventure Package

Namibia Adventure is a 17-day guided safari which takes guests from Windhoek to Damaraland and Kaokoland. It includes camping, wildlife, and a host of experiences.

The package includes all transport as per the itinerary's routing, accommodation on a shared basis, meals as specified in the itinerary, activities and park fees as specified in the itinerary, and mineral water.

The package excludes expenses of a personal nature, i.e. laundry, telephone expenses, gratuities and other personal purchases, all drinks, personal as well as medical and evacuation insurance, and any additional activities.

DAY 1:

Arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport where you will be met by your guide. Subsequent drive via Windhoek in a northerly direction via Okahandja to Okonjima Lodge, home of the Africat Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and protection of Namibian wild cats.

One overnight stay at Okonjima Main Camp or similar - full board and includes activities.

DAY 2 and 3:

Departure from Okonjima via Otjiwarongo, Otavi and Tsumeb to Mushara Bush Camp. Mushara is located only eight kilometres from the Von Lindequist Gate on the eastern outskirts of the Etosha National Park. Discover the mysteries of the African bush in Etosha National Park. Days are spent doing game drives in the park and visiting the numerous waterholes that attract a large diversity of animal and bird species.

DAY 4 and 5:

From east to west past Fort Namutoni and Halali Camp the route leads to Okaukuejo Camp in the park. Okaukuejo is located 17 kilometres from the southern entrance of the park and is famous for its floodlit waterhole where visitors can observe a spectacle of wildlife congregating and interacting.

DAY 6:

Today's destination is the Dolomite Camp located in western Etosha. Dolomite offers a profound and a first-of-its-kind experience inside the rich western section of Etosha National Park. Participants will have a wilderness experience that is unmatched in terms of privacy and landscape viewing.

DAY 7:

The route leads through a wilderness area to the Khowarib Gorge a narrow gorge in the dry Hoanib River and home to a few Damara and Herero families. We set up camp at the Khowarib community campsite. The campsite sits on the banks of the Khowarib River. Enjoy the first night of your camping adventure, Namibia's spectacular scenic beauty and colorful bird- and wildlife as well as the noises of the African nights whilst sitting around the campfire.

DAY 8:

Depart after a hearty bush breakfast in a northeastern direction towards Purros. A short visit to Sesfontein before we follow a dry river valley to Purros. Our camp will be set up at the Purros Community Campsite. The campsite is located on the Hoarusib River and is a great place from which to experience the scenic beauty and diverse wildlife in a natural setting. The dry riverbed of the Hoarusib is frequented by elephant, giraffe, kudu, zebra, ostrich, and other species. We visit an Ovahimba village in the area in the later afternoon followed by a sundowner excursion into the scenic and beautiful Hoarusib River valley.

DAY 9 and 10:

Departing into a southern direction we are entering the Palmwag Concession via the Hoanib River. Whilst moving southwards the next two days we track wildlife and visit various hidden springs. Only a few places on the planet can offer the level of privacy and wilderness experience as the approximate 5000 square kilometre private Palmwag Reserve. This desert reserve has a number of fresh water springs that support healthy populations of animals including desert-adapted black rhino and elephant as well as large populations of the Hartmann's mountain zebra, giraffe, oryx, springbok and kudu. The predator population is the largest outside the Etosha National Park with over 100 lion, cheetah, leopard, brown and spotted hyena. Birdlife is prolific and diverse with most of Namibia's endemics present. The concession also supports nearly 70% of the world's largest free-ranging population of black rhinos and functions as the crucial core area in the region. The unique fauna and flora within the concession also serve as a national, regional, and global attraction.

DAY 11:

After a last bush breakfast we make our way to Palmwag Lodge, a paradise on the Uniab River and one of Namibia's oldest and most popular tourist rendezvous.

DAY 12:

En route to Swakopmund we visit Twyfelfontein which means ?doubtful fountain? and resembles a large, open-air art gallery. This treasure house of rock engravings left by stoneage artists is regarded as one of the richest collections of rock engravings in Africa. South of Twyfelfontein is the Burnt Mountain, a panorama of desolation with colored rocks contrasting vividly against the grey-black surroundings. The Organ Pipes, a mass of basalt slabs in a ravine gouged out by a river, is another geological curiosity in the area. Arrival at Swakopmund in the late afternoon.

DAY 13:

Morning dolphin cruise on the Walvis Bay Lagoon. The afternoon is at own leisure.

DAY 14:

Departing from Swakopmund after breakfast in a southerly direction through the Namib Naukluft Park via the Kuiseb and Gaub passes into the low plains of the Namib Desert to Desert Homestead and Horse Trails.

DAY 15:

Early morning visit to Sossusvlei, a clay pan surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world, which is surrounded by high dunes and is filled only with water in years when exceptionally good rainfall is received. We visit the Sesriem Canyon. It is said that the canyon got its name during the time of the ox wagon when a person had to use six harness straps to haul water from the bottom of the canyon.

DAY 16:

Return journey via the Remhoogte Pass and Rehoboth to Windhoek. You will still have some time to explore the capital of Namibia.

DAY 17:

Depending on your departure time, spend the day in Windhoek doing some last minute shopping. Check-in to your outbound flight.
