Jugendherberge Unterkunft in South Luangwa Nat Park

We pride ourselves on being able to offer the best prices for safaris in the South Luangwa. We offer backpacker type accommodation, which are dome tents in various sizes. From a really funky single units and domes plus, we have a two bedroom unit with central sitting area. Tents are all furnished with two single, good quality foam mattresses and proper bed linen.

Tents are pitched at our dedicated campsite right on the Luangwa river and under large evergreen shade trees. This is so much more private than sleeping in a multi-bed dorm. We make sure that our tents are far enough apart to provide you with all the privacy you require. Our raised sleeping decks - covered with thatch but otherwise open - are an exciting experience, and always in high demand! You either take your mattress and bedding up there or we can pitch one of our smaller tents there.

Our small camp kitchen is equipped with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, electric kettle a two plate stove and a lovely barbecue facility with basin, grill plates and electric lights for those who wish to do self-catering. Due to animals trying to raid it the Fridge facility is in the security of the bar and available at all reasonable hours.

We have found that the majority of our guests prefer to opt for one of our all inclusive Safari Packages of three to five days. These include all meals, transfers and activities and is actually a cheaper option than doing your own thing. As a small Zambian owned tour operator we do not carry the overheads of running a lodge and have opted to pass these savings onto you - our guests - our prices will not break your bank account'

We are based at one of the nicest lodges on the Luangwa river bank just five minutes from the park entrance. We use their beautiful shady campsite as our camp for accommodation and our guests are most welcome to use all the facilities on site. The camp has wild animals wander through at will, so do not be surprised if you are faced with some elephants helping themselves to the fruit, or a giraffe peacefully nibbling at fresh leaves. Monkeys and golden baboons are our hosts and the hippo who graze at night mow our lawns. Sitting at the rivers edge you will be treated to a display game coming to drink and the pods of hippo entertaining you with their antics.

You will find the content of our safari itineraries very different from the norm as we like to introduce you to the wider area around the park as well as getting to know some of the local restaurants. We visit a wildlife center and animal orphanage as well as driving far north to the Nsefu sector of the park which is very remote and still a truly African bush experience.Some of our dinners are enjoyed under the canopy of stars in true African bush style with fireside tales and stories of the bush.
