Otters Creek is situated in a private nature reserve, on the shores of Groenvlei (Lake Pleasant) which is part of the Goukamma Nature and Marine Reserve. We have 3 bedrooms beautifully kitted out with crisp white linen and a study with a bunk bed suited for children, two comfortable bathrooms with shower and bath facilities, a large fully equipped kitchen, a very comfortable lounge/dining area with a bar, an outside area with a Weber and pool table, and a large veranda with beautiful lake, forest and mountain views. The house has Wi-Fi /Internet access, a DSTV Family Package, wheelchair accessibility, and an enclosed double garage. We are pet friendly!During longer stays a cleaning service can be arranged daily.All linen is supplied including bath towels, but please bring your own swimming towels.A private jetty gives you access to safe swimming, kayaking, sailing or fishing on the Lake. You are likely to hear the fish eagles call, and the surrounding area has superb mountain biking and beautiful forest and beach walks - the beach is 5 mins away in a Marine Protected Area. Other attractions in the area include the Hoogekraal Pass, the Featherbed Nature Reserve and Wild Oats farmer's market, and so much more to discover

Thoroughly enjoyable by

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Otters Creek. The house is huge and has a beautiful view. We had a great short walk down to the water and even saw a tortoise along the way.

The owners gave clear instructions and directions and everything was simple and well organised.


Stunning place by

It doesn't happen often that you get to a place that is better than advertised, but this house most definitely was! It is spacious and well appointed with awesome views from 2 of the bedrooms and the main living area.There are 2 outside sitting areas, one of which is enclosed, so you can enjoy outside living in most weather.

A short walk down from the house takes you to a private jetty on the lake with access to 2 canoes and if you don't mind wading past a few lake weeds, the lake is great for swimming.

The house is located just a short 8 min drive from the center of Sedgefield and access is from the N2 onto the road into the Goukamma Nature Reserve. The road through the reserve is well graded gravel, but the track to the house is quite bumpy. Having said that it is only a short track so we didn't mind. If you follow the main gravel track for a couple of kilometers you get to a lovely beach so there is no need to go back to Sedgefield to access the beach.

The house itself is well equipped. There is a large kitchen with all sorts of utensils and a dishwasher as well as a separate laundry with a washing machine. The bedding and towels are good quality. There are lots of nice touches like plenty of hangers, fans, plug extension cables, DSTV, games and access to the canoes.

All the rooms are spacious with lots of storage space. In fact the house has so many cupboards that it was often difficult to find things - I was wondering if some level of labeling might have been helpful. In the 5 days we were there I never did find that iron! I also would have liked some instructions on operating some of the machines like the dishwasher, washing machine etc.

Jayne, the host, was most helpful and made sure to sort out a missing key very promptly.

All in all, we were delighted with the house and hope to visit again!

Surprising spacious with beautiful view by

We spent two nights at Otters Creek and would have liked more. Spacious and well-furnished accommodation with plenty facilities. The only minor point: at some places I missed fly screens.
