Rocktail Beach Camp is situated 700 metres from the beach within the sanctuary of the lush Maputaland Coastal Forest that blankets the ancient dunes. It lies within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, which was formerly known as the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park. The camp is a brisk 15 minute walk through the indigenous forest to a pristine stretch of close to 40 km of unspoiled beaches. Offshore from these beaches lies the Maputaland Marine Reserve.
The camp consists of 17 rooms, nine standard rooms and eight suites. All the rooms have en-suite bathrooms, an open-feel indoor shower and overhead fans. Seven of the rooms are family suites with a shared bathroom and two bedrooms accommodating two adults and two children. The honeymoon suite has wonderful views over the dune forest and out onto the ocean.
Rocktail Beach Camp has a central dining room, bar and lounge with a large wrap-around veranda. A raised viewing deck just off the veranda has wide views that extend out to the ocean. The camp's main area has a large pool, curio shop and children's playroom, complete with board games and other fun activities for families. From a scuba diving perspective, Rocktail Bay is unique. Not only is the diving conducted within a Reserve and World Heritage Site along unspoiled reefs, but divers have the luxury of knowing that they alone have access to these sites and are the only underwater visitors along this stretch of the coastline.
