Situated in Swellendam in the Western Cape, Skipskop Chalets consists of three luxurious chalets situated in the main street near the town center with a style which is typical of the old fisherman's cottages with a modest touch. Each chalet consists of one bedroom, open plan kitchen, lounge and a full bathroom/shower, free Wi-Fi and selected DSTV channels for a comfortable stay.
The kitchen area is equipped with a microwave, bar-fridge, kettle, toaster and hotplate, crockery and cutlery. The lounge area with an indoor barbeque/fireplace for the colder nights, television with Dstv, chairs and 2 single beds forms part of this unit. The bedroom is equipped with a dressing table, queen or two single beds, ceiling fan, build in cupboard, linen, duvet/s, fresh towels and electric blankets.
Swellendam offers an array of activities including walking, hiking, overnight huts, superb bird watching, mountain bike trails, 9-hole golf course, tennis and squash courts, airfield, aero club for gliding and flying, canoeing on Breede River and water sport on the nearby Buffeljagsdam. Guests can visit the Drostdy museum, Bontebok Park and scenic Tradouwspass through Suurbraak, tours to De Hoop nature reserve, pont at Malagas, whale watching at Whitesands and wine at neighboring towns.
After Cape Town and Stellenbosch, Swellendam is the third oldest settlement in South Africa. Nestling at the foot of the picturesque Langeberg Mountains, Swellendam has much to offer visitors who have an interest in history, nature and outdoor activities.
Situated on the N2, approximately 240 km (150 miles) from both Cape Town and George, Swellendam is the perfect choice for a halfway stopover or as a base from which to explore the area.
In addition to serving its local and surrounding community, Swellendam glories in its past by continuing to offer travelers the services they require for rest and relaxation on their travels.

Chalets were clean. The bedroom was nice. It was however very humid and their were not even a fan. Thus struggle to sleep. In the open plan kitchen where the tv were, no chairs. Only single beds against the wall.

Very friendly patrons.  Pity that the marketing information and photo's are misleading.  The facilities did not look like on the photo's and the information about 'recently renovated' was incorrect, as the renovations are still being done.

Friendly, helpful hosts. But the place could have done with more of a clean, and there was a bad smell around. Didn't like the fact that the tv and microwave were bolted down, made me wonder about security or the type of guest who stayed there!

Nice friendly owner. Skipskop is great value for overnight or three and close to town. It just need a handyman's hand on some things.
