wonderful accommodation by

We had a wonderful stay, rooms were beautiful and clean. Owners were awesome. Would moat definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at Springside Road Hillcrest. The owners are wonderful warm and very welcoming. It is a beautiful place with amazing views. We felt right at home. The property has much to entertain both kids and adults alike.

Weekend in February 2017 by

We arrived at Springside Road Guesthouse an hour later than check in time. (We arrived at 4pm). We were greeted by the daughter of the owner and told that they decided to give us another room than the one booked. We were taken to the room and it was dark and musty smelling right in front of the tennis courts away from the main house. Suffering from claustrophobia, I knew this would be a problem room.We were not happy and indicated that we wanted the room we booked and payed for. She said it would take a few minutes to get ready. We waited a while and then took our things upstairs to the Pool Room. This is a beautiful room with a lovely view of the pool below and enough windows to compensate for the lack of air conditioning. The room is spacious and well maintained. The guest house is fairly 'new' and a lot of little things can be done to bring it up to standard. There was no fridge (as indicated in the booking) and they went to fetch one for us. The sheets were not fresh and looked as if someone had slept on them. Towels were brought in and they were clean, but one was only a small bath towel and pretty small for an adult to use. The bathroom was clean but lacked shower gel/body cream. An old piece of used soap was left in the shower and the toilet roll was half used, although two new ones were supplied later. The coffee and tea was brought in when we requested it (it was not supplied as indicated in the booking). Unfortunately the coffee, sugar and tea was in old jam jars. This can be improved on with suitable containers. There was a tea cup and teapot but no saucer for the cup. There were two coffee mugs. There were no bin bags and when I asked I was told to use it as is. It is a really beautiful house and can become a popular guest house with a couple of personal touches and being ready to receive the guests on time with a spotless and well prepared room. In the top drawer of the bed side table there was a scarf and medicine as well as hair accessories. This indicated to us that the room was used by one of the house owners maybe? There were pillows and linen pushed into the one cupboard and not neatly packed. We were disappointed at the lack of care for such a beautiful place and hope that the owners will take our review as positive criticism. The mattress protector had red nail varnish spills on it and was not clean and fresh. I turned the existing fitted sheet around to ensure a 'cleaner' bed. The duvet cover had a brown mark on - from a dirty shoe perhaps? The only mirror in the room was the small one above the one wash basin in the bathroom with nowhere to place any make-up or toiletries. It would be great to have a full length mirror fixed to the inside of one of the wardrobes (of which there were ample) and maybe a dressing table and mirror with drawers fitted into one fo the many wardrobe areas? However, having said all this, we enjoyed our stay and the room was really lovely and worth booking, if the owners are willing to take care in ensuring it is up to standard. They were friendly and we were supplied with a remote for the gate. The gardens are well kept and pretty. The pool was in a splendid state. Thank you for taking the time to review this message and opening your home to us for the weekend. It is a really beautiful home and I am sure that you will take the time and make effort with the guest house in future to give you positive feedback from visitors.
