Situated in the heart of the Karoo, next to the Buffalo River, between Laingsburg and Ladismith, and on-route to Seweweekspoort, lies the peaceful, unique and fully contained self catering lodge Wagendrift.

Although one is surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature and its abounds, the choices still remains whether you would like to pass time by leisurely taking a bush walk and doing some bird watching, or getting the adrenalin rush of doing something more physical such as swimming, mountain biking, motorcycle trails or exploring the 4x4 routes. Wagendrift Lodge is also ideally suited for team building exercises.

Wonderful place by

Wagendrift Lodge is a wonderful place, little lovely details in and around the house. We had a pleasant stay and the braai package is highly recommended!

Dit was onbeskryflik mooi, vreedsaam, pragtige omgewing. Ons sal beslis weer soontoe gaan. Ons sal al ons vriende, familie en kollegas van Wagendrift vertel. Baie dankie vir jul vrienskap. Ons waardeer dit baie. En sê vir Ben, die jong man wat toesig hou, dit is pragtig en skoon en hy moet aanhou met sy voorbeeldige werk en vriendelikheid. Baie dankie. It was unbelievably beautiful, peaceful and in lovely surroundings. We will definitely visit again. We will tell our friends, colleagues and family of this place. Thank you for the friendship. We appreciate it. Tell Ben, the young man looking after the place, that everything was clean and neat and he must continue to do such a good job. Thank you very much.

A disappointment for overnight stay by

Unsuitable for single overnight stay. If you are not familiar with this kind of lodging, you arrive there and find nothing-no coffee or tea, no WiFi, no means of communication, no staffed office, you are totally on your own. If a problem develops it could be a disaster. Unable to call anyone. True we understood that this is self-catering, and brought our own food, but the description of tea and coffee facilities is ambiguous and it should be made clear that nothing is supplied as such. Kettle was dirty, towels old, TV on one channel only, without any instructions. Much overpriced for what you get.

Dear Mr Rabinowitz. I'm am very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at Wagendrift. Just to clarify on a few issues that you had.The WiFi connection is connected to a satellite phone so connection will never be 100%. All Telkom lines in the area were stolen a few years ago.
Regarding the dirty kettle the water on the farm has a very high lime content.One cannot clean the lime from the element therefore we replace all our kettles every 6 months.The lime content in the water is also why the towels aren't that colourful. Our T&Cs do state that we are 100% self catering. We also do have a phone at the main house for calling purposes. Very sorry that you did not know how to work the DSTV remote. Wagendrift Lodge is a typical farm holiday and we do not promote ourselves as much more than this.


Even better the second time around! by

This was our second time at Wagendrif and once again we were extremely impressed! An absolute must-stay for anyone who enjoys hospitality and being outdoors yet have a comfortable stay in a beautiful valley.
