Whistling Thorn Tented Camp is a small tented camp adjacent to Tarangire National Park, famous for it's big population of
elephants. The camp is set in in a typical African thorn-tree bush landscape, right next to the Kwakuchinja Wildlife Corridor. This corridors used by the animals to go from one park to the other, in search for water and grasses.
During the migration periods you may be lucky to witness the migration of zebras, wildebeest and elephants right from the veranda of your tent. Not only is the camp interesting for it's nature; Whistling Thorn Tented Camp is situated in a conservation area for the Masai, and the camp is operated by people from the surrounding Olasity community.
We have a very good relationship with the local villagers, and operate several community projects with the profits from our camps. The Masai people are more then happy to tell you all about their culture and lifestyle and show you around in their houses.
Whistling Thorn Tented Camp can accommodate up to fifteen guests in six spacious canvas tents under permanent grass-thatched roofs. Each tent has shelving, a writing desk and an en suite bathroom with flush toilet and a hot shower. From the private, shaded veranda, you can overlook the parklands of Whistling Thorns and the flat-topped acacia trees where giraffe, zebra and elephant graze, and the occasional Maasai warriors wander by.
Whistling Thorn Tented Camp is a perfect facility for small groups or individuals who would like something out of the ordinary for their safari experience. This is where nature, culture, and conservation come together in the heart of wild Africa.
