Situated in the second oldest town of Mpumalanga, Wakkerstroom, the DeKotzenhof guest house provides comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation in an Old World style.Accommodation is available in four double rooms that have en-suite bathrooms and a pleasantly sunny interior. A delicious breakfast is served each morning and dinner is available on request. The guest house is expanding and hopes to accommodate up to 12 guests in the near future. The town of Wakkerstroom, derives its Afrikaans name from the Zulu meaning of the river that flows near the town, uThaka which means awake. In English Wakkerstroom means awake stream or lively stream, and though it may be far out in the country, its town is a rare jewel that's hosts annual country fairs and many pleasant local shops.

Very clean, pretty and lovely breakfast. Well priced.



Excellent accommodation at a reasonable price. The breakfasts were delicious and the evening meals (prior arrangement) were great. The owners Mark and Karen Kotze were wonderful hosts and very helpful with suggestions for sights to visit in the Wakkerstroom area. There is also ample off-street parking for those travelling by car. I would recommend DeKotzenhof to anyone looking for a comfortable and friendly place to stay.

We were greeted by a very friendly couple.  Immediate laughs all around. 

The room was comfortable with all the necessities against the chill in the air.  The room also had other small things that I find speaks of people who pay attention to their guests with books to read, bubble bath and an honesty basket with treats. 

Breakfast was delicious and very well presented. 

We will definitely be back!

Had a great stay at DeKotzenhof. Mark and his wife were great hosts and very accommodating.
