Grootte Valleij Guest Lodge is surrounded by beautiful mountains and located in the peaceful Karoo. Farm animals and various birds can be heard in the background, making this the ideal break for a relaxed stay.

There are four guest rooms available, with meals provided on request. Guests can relax in the lounge area with a TV, or on the covered veranda while sipping a glass of wine and reading a book.

Enjoy the lovely braai facilities with lots of Thornwood and succulent Karoo lamb chops. Safe and secure parking is provided, with plenty of space for caravans and trailers. Activities in the area include mountain biking, fishing, hiking trails and canoeing.

Had a lovely time. Good food and excellent hosts.



Great food and lots of friendliness from the owners. The lodge will be turning into a oasis in the Eastern Cape.

One evening stay in Dec 2016 by

I arrived in the afternoon,and was greeted by Sheldon and Tanya Cordukes.

The immediate friendlyness made me feel welcome!My room was clean and neat.The sheets had been pressed and the the bathroom was squeecky clean

Dinner was tasty,and there was ample to eat.It even included a pudding!

Grootte Valeij is a bit out of the way,and this makes the rest excellent,as the quieteness engulves one

Highly recommended!

Overbooking by

Unfortunately there was an overbooking and no place for us at the guest lodge itself. The hosts where however very hospitable and accommodated us in their family farmhouse.We really appreciated their efforts to accomodate us, but obviously it was not the romantic getaway that we had planned. The guest house itself did look lovely however.

No highlight by

Our room was not ready, bed was not made up, the microwave oven was dirty, the toiletbowl was not fixed to the floor and no working TV in the room but Tanya and Sheldon were friendly and apologetic.
