Die Stal Self-catering is an old cow shed that has been transformed into a cottage to give groups and families that true farm-stay feeling. The Cottage is located 15 km outside Winterton.
The Cottage consists of three bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, as well as a large living area that has been furnished with six single beds. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove and oven, a kettle, a toaster, a microwave, as well as cutlery and crockery. Guests can relax in the lounge which also has a cosy fireplace for those cold days.
The Cottage has a private lapa that has a built-in braai and guests can relax and view the Drakensberg Mountains as well as the Tugela River that flows on the farm grounds. Although smaller groups will be accepted, please note preference will be given to a group of 12 people.
Various activities can be enjoyed on the farm from fishing, hiking and birdwatching, to off-road drives. Guests are welcome to bring along their quad bikes or any toys. The town itself also has a few attractions and guests can visit the Winterton Museum which holds a display on the history of farming in the area as well as a unique gallery of San paintings. The Drakensberg Boys' Choir also performs in the town in the week and over weekends. Various nature reserves and national parks can also be visited in the area.
