Doornberg Guest Farm lies nestled in the heart of the Sneeuberg mountains, just outside Nieu Bethesda with its well-known Owl House. Relax, soak up the sun, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Karoo. Go birdwatching or game viewing, or just curl up in front of a log fire on a cold winter evening.Doornberg is a working sheep farm with many fields irrigated by mountain springs, and Peet and Hanna are the fifth-generation owners of this magnificent family farm. The farm house is hidden among 200-year-old oak trees, with huge gardens creating a true oasis in the Karoo.Guests are free to use all facilities on the farm and experience true Karoo hospitality in safe and secure surroundings.All facilities are equipped for self catering and linen and towels are provided.Please note that the village of Nieu Bethesda has NO FUEL OR PETROL STATIONS, also NO ATM OR CARD FACILITIES and the same is valid for the farm. Bring enough cash for purchases and meals. Please make sure that you fill up before turning off the N9.

WONDERFULL!!!! by

What an experience. Peet en Hanna made us feel like we were staying in our own home. The accommodation is excellent, the food (which Hanna prepared herself) was fantastic. We went for walks, our daughter of 11yrs had a ball of a time swimming, swinging, playing with the 2 dogs and we did not even worry about her, she played and walked everywhere. We went for a lovely 3/4 hr walk in the 'koppies' beautifull. Peet took us on a drive to a neighbouring farm and to the 'vleihuisie'. We are definately going back there, hopefully for longer than 3 nights. Thanks to Peet, Hanna and daughter Nicky. Blessings!!

Connection to Nature!!! by

Peet and Hanna have created a little piece of nature heaven here! Private and isolated, it will be hard to find a better nature escape than this special place with it's amazing setting in the Karoo! A recharge for the soul - with the wonderful variety of animal and bird life right on your stoep, from giant tortoises to a whole flock of blue cranes, and much more... Very comfortable and tastefully decorated inside with a fire place for the cold evenings. On warmer evenings the star filled sky outside is simply out of this world! Close enough to Nieu Bethesda to explore this beautiful little gem of a village also. A long weekend we will never forget - we hope to return soon!

Peace at its best by

We always love staying at Vlei Huisie. It's remote, peaceful and is surrounded by mountains. We specifically enjoy cycling there Don't forget your peaceful sleep and ensure to check the beds for bugs before you climb in!
