DriefonteinVrede (FS), Free State, South Africa Self-catering from R 250 (family units from R 1,500) | R 250 |
Driefontein is a lovely working farm offering a self-catering cottage set along a dam, situated 24 km east of Vrede. The cottage consists of two bedrooms, a private bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a lounge area. There are also braai facilities outside for some fun social gatherings.
The biggest feature here is the absolute peace and tranquility, away from the busy city life. There are numerous hikes, mountain biking trails, areas for caving, abseiling and rock climbing in the area, whilst the town offers a number of activities that require little effort, such as quaint little pubs, restaurants and arts and crafts shops.
The pretty little town of Vrede lies in what is described as the 'spine' of the Drakensberg, surrounded by rolling hills covered in highveld grasses, and home to a particularly striking sandstone church. Situated just off the N3 northeast of Harrismith and virtually on the border with Mpumalanga, Vrede is on the main route from Johannesburg via Newcastle to the North Coast and is thus an automatic stopover.
A visit to Driefontein Guest Cottage could include, trout fishing from your front door, hiking- trails, bird watching at the nearby Seekoeivlei-Resort 45km from Driefontein, golf, bowls, tennis, squash courts in Vrede
Roads ideally suited for cycling and our biggest asset is the peace and tranquility of the Eastern Free State.
