Enaleni Guest Farm

Enaleni Guest Farm

Camperdown, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Self-catering from R 330 (family units from R 800)
R 330

Nestled in the country, 6 km from the N3, between Durban and Pietermaritzburg you will find a unique guesthouse on a working agro ecological farm. Accommodation is available as a B and B or self-catering basis.

All rooms are en-suite. A major feature of the guesthouse is the dome in the main living area. Here you sit in the lounge with an open fireplace in winter or sit on the stoep overlooking the garden and the farm with a 180-degree view. The bulk of the meals come from the farm, freshly picked and wholesome. This is a working farm so you can experience life amongst the animals or take a stroll in the orchards or orchid houses. Some of the animals include a registered herd of Nguni cattle, endangered Zulu sheep, dogs, old-fashioned poultry and a Spanish Donkey called Gundagunda.

Enaleni Guest Farm has won the SAB 2011 Eat In Award for best South African Heritage Farm. The farm is preserving our heritage by keeping a herd of Nguni cattle, endangered Zulu sheep, growing rare, local maize varietals and the traditional ibhece melon.

Visiting Enaleni is an opportunity to experience an unusual working example of agro-ecological farming. A type of farming that draws from the vibrant heritage of KwaZulu-Natal in an environment that is restful and casual surrounded by abundant agro-diversity.

Stay at enaleni gurst house by

It was such a pleasure to stay at Enaleni guest house , we were treated so well there that i will go back next year for Midmar or even earlier just for a weekend away, Dave and Richard made it home from home , we enjoyed every minute from arrival to dinner to breakfast and especially the cake on when we arrived. thank you both Dave and Richard for a wonderful weekend and i highly recommend this place to anyone .

Comrades and Dusi Events by

It is a very convenient guest house for the Comrades and any Dusi Event. We were doing the Dusi Mfula and it was less than a few minutes away from the start. Accommodation was beautiful and hospitality was fantastic.

Relaxing with amazing food! by

When arriving one might feel that you have made the wrong choice as the grass is long and the garden seems very average. The accomadation building seems very outdated from the outside as well. Once you enter the accomadation you find that the owner has put up a very farm like theme to his accomadation.
The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are nice and spacious. The only thing wrong was that we found that in some areas the rooms weren't cleaned properly. Dust in the corners and ontop of some ledgers. Otherwise is was great.
The breakfast that Richard makes is a must! It's a three consecutive meal and each and every aspect is made by himself. From the yogurt, the jam, scones, wors etc are all self made and all ingredients come from the farm.
Richard is an excellent host who is very welcome. We will be back to his pop-up restaurant that he has on the first Sunday of each month

Being so close to nature by

All the quirky little touches in the cottage - made it very special. Richard and Charlie were very welcoming - Richard so interesting to talk to, so knowledgeable and passionate about agro- ecology and preservation of indigenous domestic animals and crops an inspiration
