Nestled in the country, 6 km from the N3, between Durban and Pietermaritzburg you will find a unique guesthouse on a working agro ecological farm. Accommodation is available as a B and B or self-catering basis.
All rooms are en-suite. A major feature of the guesthouse is the dome in the main living area. Here you sit in the lounge with an open fireplace in winter or sit on the stoep overlooking the garden and the farm with a 180-degree view. The bulk of the meals come from the farm, freshly picked and wholesome. This is a working farm so you can experience life amongst the animals or take a stroll in the orchards or orchid houses. Some of the animals include a registered herd of Nguni cattle, endangered Zulu sheep, dogs, old-fashioned poultry and a Spanish Donkey called Gundagunda.
Enaleni Guest Farm has won the SAB 2011 Eat In Award for best South African Heritage Farm. The farm is preserving our heritage by keeping a herd of Nguni cattle, endangered Zulu sheep, growing rare, local maize varietals and the traditional ibhece melon.
Visiting Enaleni is an opportunity to experience an unusual working example of agro-ecological farming. A type of farming that draws from the vibrant heritage of KwaZulu-Natal in an environment that is restful and casual surrounded by abundant agro-diversity.
