Farm Cottages at Au d'Brandy RouteDe Doorns, Western Cape, South Africa Self-catering | (POA) |
Au d' Brandy Route is located on Arbeid Adelt farm. This farm was part of the original farm De Doorns, one of the first four farms to be in the Hex River Valley in the year 1731. The old carriageway in those days always followed the easiest route near water for the sake of the animals.
Many travellers and adventurers travelling between Cape of Good Hope and the Karoo visited this farm to buy cases of brandy, as well as to experience the hospitality of the farm. The Victorian manor house on the estate, built-in 1897, is the only remaining so-called "Brandy Palace" of the Hex River Valley.
The self-catering farm cottages comprise two double bed units with each its own kitchenette and open plan bathroom. Furthermore, there is also a standalone 2-bedroom cottage situated across the road from the main estate.
The units are equipped with all the appliances to make your stay comfortable, including Wi-Fi and DStv. The kitchenettes are stocked with tea, coffee and milk. Braai facilities are also available.
Guests can come and experience all 4 seasons in the Hex River Valley. Summer is the ideal time to visit a packing shed and taste the grapes. The valley's scenery brings to fore the splendor of each season ? hot, green summers ? brown, leather patch-blanket autumns ? cold, snowy winters ? and a spring full of color and excitement for the new table grapes season.
Activities in the area include walking trails through the vineyards, hiking trails, rock climbing, golf, wine tasting, 4x4 trails, mountain biking, and game fams. Alternatively, guests can unwind and relax under the estate's large oak trees.
