Gansbaai Lodge and Backpackers is situated in centre of the shark-diving capital of the world, Gansbaai, which is a short two-hour drive from Cape Town. This choice Gansbaai accommodation overlooks the traditional fishing harbour, with stunning panoramic sea views which can be enjoyed from the sundowner deck, in-house pub and outside barbecue area.

Gansbaai forms part of the Whale Coast with the Walker Bay Whale Sanctuary providing a nursery to southern right, bryde and humpback whales which are easily observed from the shore or on a boat-based whale watching tour. Dyer Island is a breeding colony for African penguins and Cape fur seals. The narrow channel between Geyser Rock and Dyer Island is home to around 60,000 seals and is a feeding ground of the endangered great white shark.
