Gateside Guesthouse is set in the heart of the tranquil Hilton Village only 10 kms from Pietermaritzburg. We sleep 30 guests & offer small meeting & conference facilities for a maximum of 8 to 10 people.
The self-catering units and B&B rooms have breathtaking views across the green pastures and dam to local Table Mountain.Close to Hilton, St. Anne's, Grace & Etham Colleges, Cowan House & Laddsworth primary schools alongwith Hilton Life Hospital. We are within easy reach of restaurants, shopping centres & local businesses whilst still enjoying a peaceful village setting. Situated halfway between the magnificent Drakensberg mountains & the beautiful beaches of the KZN coastline, we offer a midway stop on your journey or come & spend time visiting the Midlands Meander's arts, crafts & dining in beautiful countryside. We look forward to welcoming you & hope you enjoy your stay!
(Phillipa has lived in Africa all her life.Starting in Zambia & then based in Zimbabwe, she moved to South Africa in 2003, driven by her love of the Kwazulu-Natal Midlands area, (commonly referred to as the Midlands Meander,) & returning to the area her family originated from.)

What a lovely place by

We had the perfect experience at Gateside as we visited this November. We knew we would get a lovely view, and we did. Then the food and service was all we could have hoped for. One of our best experiences during our travel through South Africa.

Excellent accommodation in a great setting by

Spacious rooms with good heating. Clean and tidy with everything that we required. They Were able to assist with a camp cot for a toddler. Phillipa is a delightful hostess.

We loved the tranquility, homely atmosphere & absolute cleanliness of the place. Although only a one night stop over on our way from Johannesburg to Durban, all our requirements were met & we had a wonderful sleep over,

We stayed in Tiny Cottage for a week We were made to feel welcome from when we arrived The owners greeted us and our humans and we were shown to our Cottage there was enough grass and our garden was fenced so we felt safe. Nobody asked us to stop barking at the Monkeys (except maybe mommy) We had a wonderful time and love to go on holiday with Mommy and Daddy Thank you for make this possible Mika, Badger and Rosie
