Gecko Creek Wilderness Lodge offers self-catering Cederberg accommodation, located on a 517-hectare private nature reserve. Accommodation is provided in cabins and tents overlooking the valleys and mountains.

We offer full self-catering facilities as well as prepared meals on request. Features include a cool lapa for gathering and cooking, a fire-warmed open-air boma, a stunning salt-water swimming pool, and outstanding ablution facilities.

This mountain hideaway borders the 80,000-hectare Cederberg Reserve, a world of awe-inspiring rock formations, bushman caves and endless hiking trails. The area offers the solitude and grandeur setting of ancient and mystical times, with magical sunrises and sunsets, while the Olifants River is a short distance away, allowing for idyllic swimming and picnics.

The Cederberg is home to the regal Cape leopard, baboons, lynx, antelope and 165 bird species, including the magnificent Black eagle and Eagle owls. Economical scenic flights are also available over the West Coast and Cederberg, and an award-winning vineyard and horseback riding are optional day trips nearby.

We do not allow children under the age of 16 years.

We had a wonderful stay. The people were friendly and down to earth. Everything was neat and tidy and very comfortable. Enjoyed the quiet rest, the wolf and all the wild birds that came to feed. Greetings to Ingrid and Samuel.

All the arrangements were mervelous. The lodge was literally made in the midst of nature. The host Lwik and zoe were too good in their hospitality. Had a nice experience for a weekend trip.

We had a great stay (4 days) at Gecko Creek. You feel very welcome here, this oase in the wilderness. We had a cabin, a room with a view, a rare view at nature. And suprising: very good wifi, very strong!

Easter weekend stay by

Great peaceful and quiet campsite with good facilities. We had a great weekend of rest, enjoyed the interaction with a variety of visitors, local and international in the communal kitchen and Lapa.

I did call Safari about 3 or 4 times to cancel re weather.....no answer on your urgent contact number, Actually would have liked the deposit to be kept for future visiot...not a happy camper!!!

Dinner by

Host wonderful and her dinner stunning but totally overpriced for a wood cabin with NO water, electricity, toilet, light or candles and decent bedding.
