The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) focuses on the conservation of rare, vulnerable and endangered animal species. Cheetah Conservation is one of its core disciplines.

There are two self-catering units situated on the HESC grounds. Sebeka Guest House is situated in the middle of the Bush within Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre. The house is fully equipped for self-catering and can comfortably sleep six people. Sebeka has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room with an air-conditioning unit.

There is a veranda and braai area within a fenced in garden. There is a double garage for your vehicle. Extra mattresses can be provided on request for additional sleeping space. The unit is self-catering and is cleaned daily by housekeeping. Unfortunately there are no TV's or any play areas.

Khulas Cottage is the recently unveiled eco-friendly self-catering cottage, built in a truly unique and extraordinary location within the perimeter of The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre. Basic electricity is provided via solar panels, and limited mobile phone coverage facilitates a true African getaway from the hustle and bustle of city living.

The cottage offers an exclusive and private setting to observe the life of HESC's cheetahs, and is the perfect base from which to explore the scenic wonders of the Lowveld, including God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and Pilgrim's Rest. This is a birder's paradise, for the region supports a diverse and multi-kaleidoscopic number of bird species. Another treat for feathered enthusiasts is watching vultures descend from the sky in time to avail themselves of the pickings delivered to the ?Vulture Restaurant' at the HESC each day.

Khula's Cottage is set within its own enclosed and protected area, offering a private and personal experience. This is the ideal experience for self-drive clients who do not wish to compromise on comfort, but are looking for an authentic bush experience with great value for money. The cottage comprises three en-suite bedrooms and is perfect for larger families, or for friends travelling together.

The cottage consists of two twin rooms, each with an additional day bed, and one double room. An expansive wooden deck boasts spectacular views of the surrounding wilds. Amenities include towels, linen, cutlery, tea and coffee-making facilities and cooking utensils. The cottage also offers a gas fridge and stove. As a self-catered unit, clients determine their own meal times and preferences.

The outdoor boma is the spot for a magnificent meal underneath the stars. Breakfast and lunch is also served daily at The Deli, based within the HESC. Visitors who are travelling from afar may also send their grocery list through in advance, and the HESC team will acquire the items on their behalf.

Tours are available at the centre and are not included in the rate. Game drives on the Kapama Game Reserve are also available at additional cost on request and include a beverage in a scenic sundowner venue at sunset. Regret no pets allowed. Please note the gates open at 06:00 and close at 17:00 daily.

The self-catering cottages are situated within a Big 5 area. At night you can listening to the majestic roar of the lion from the comfort of your bed.
