My stay in Hope Gardens Guest House was quite interesting. - 1.The instructions and map I downloaded, were completely wrong. The Gogo Road and Gogo Lane were not marked which made it quite difficult to find. All the people I asked for help did not know about the guest house including a taxi driver who plys the hardy area.
There are no signs and Consolatas' number was off. Guests should be advised to turn off at the Karengata Academy, it is the next black gate on the left.
2.I got the impression, we were not expected, because when we arrived after having driven around the hardy area for close to an hour . We were allocated rooms in a very haphazard manner.
When I asked about the possibility of a meal for my children, It was evident that we were not expected to have our meals in the guest house. Which made everything expensive and awkward.
3. Our rooms were ok, but considering that Karen is a very cold area, Bedside rugs or carpets would have made the rooms cosy.
4. The instant heaters in the bathrooms that we were allocated did not work, which meant we had to take our baths in another room.
5. The toilet in our room did not flash either. So after use, we directed the shower head into the cistern so that, there was enough water to flash.
6.The evenings were so unpleasant as it rained the entire time we were there, and despite the house having a fire place there was no fire lite in the evenings.
7.The dustbin in the kitchen was full and was not been emptied during the entire time we were there. It smelt and had insects in it.
8. The Guest house is used and a training centre for women during the week . Which is good, but I think guests should be made aware, so that they know what to expect.
It was awkward for us, because we did not know about the training sessions and the instructor just asked us to move.
9. When I asked for an electric Iron , to press a few handkerchiefs for my daughter. I was calmly told that there was none I could use. To my surprise less than an hour later there were 2 ladies ironing table cloths and napkins.
10. The house keeper Mary tried her best, however there is still a lot that ca be improved. There was no breakfast for us on the last day and the wifi was switched off much to the amusement of my children.
The owner is not friendly, and the whole experience lacked a personal touch. It is the small things that create customer loyalty.
