Horseback Africa

Horseback Africa is a family-run, privately owned game reserve situated in Cullinan. We offer the best horse-riding safaris available as well as walking and touching the lions. Saddle up and enjoy the freedom of horse-riding in nature. In a vehicle you're restricted to roads and pathways, but on horseback you're free to follow the wildlife wherever they go.

Our beautifully appointed lodge offers guests a feeling of being one with nature in eight en-suite rooms. Come share bushveld stories around the camp fire, enjoy sensational feasts in the outdoor boma or simply relax and unwind around the swimming pool. The Bushman's Cottage is private and secluded, hidden from the lodge and tucked away between large boulders. This cottage gives you the chance to be completely alone in nature with no electricity, an outside hot water shower and flush toilet, one room with a double bed, and the other room with a sleeper couch.

We have a number of well-schooled horses that are suitable for all levels of riding ability, including first time riders. All our horses are trained in the classical English style to give a responsive ride and guests may ride in comfortable trail rider saddles or English General Purpose saddles.

For the more energetic, we have a number of well-marked hiking trails that take you past scenic dams and quiet bird hides. There are hundreds of bird species to view, abundant wildlife and beautiful landscapes to photograph. We also offer a number of exciting activities at the lodge where you will not waste any of your holiday time being stuck in a car.
