Housemartin Guest Lodge has been AA Highly recommended and is located in the scenic village of De Rust, at the southern entrance to the magnificent Meiringspoort. This 110-year old Victorian manor house offers 12 en-suite luxury guest rooms, set in the garden.
Each luxury room features its own veranda leading onto the gardens, orchard and sparkling pool. In the rooms you will find Muscadel, homemade biscuits, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and magazines. Other features include percale bed linen, and in winter we offer underfloor heating in the bathrooms as well as mohair blankets and electric under blankets to keep you snug and warm. These can be enjoyed at the table and chairs on the private, covered verandas.
The atmosphere lures the guests into gentle relaxation after a day exploring the walking and biking trails in the area or birding, cycling and wine tasting on the local estates. Try driving through the sandstone peaks of one of the highest mountain ranges in South Africa, the amazing Swartberg, or meandering through the Kammanassie and Outeniquas.
The Meiringspoort is a must see and is abundant with fauna and flora. The waterfall is superb to swim in and a great place to have a sundowner.
