Kalahari Flats offers warm hospitality and comfort in six private self-catering units located in a quiet area on the outskirts of the town. The establishment is however within walking distance of the business area and restaurants.
Each air-conditioned unit is well equipped with a fridge, two-plate stove, microwave, frying pan, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. They have self-catering kitchens with tea and coffee facilities as well as rusks and three cereals. Braai equipment is also provided. The comfortable units are furnished with double and single beds and have en-suite bathrooms with baths or showers. All bedding and towels are supplied and all beds are fitted with electric blankets and winter sheets during winter, as well as two thick blankets for those cold Karoo nights. TVs with the Hotel Premium Package DStv channels are available and guests have private entrances and verandahs where they can relax and enjoy sundowners.
Braai packs are available on request for those who want to enjoy organic Karoo lamb chops and sausage. Each unit has an ironing board, iron, insect repellent and emergency lamps. Hairdryers are supplied on request and a laundry service is available after a stay of three days. The entire complex is fenced, well lit and has lock-up parking for each unit.
The local museum hosts a variety of interesting pieces and guests can visit the interesting Corbelled House. Carnarvon also serves as the home of MeerKAT - a radio telescope under construction in the Northern Cape in the bid to host the square kilometre array telescope against Australia.
