Stayed in Kaya Ribbok with a view to die for. Cottage well equipped and the friendliness and hospitality of the owners really something special.

Centurion. PEACEFULL by Kitta Engelbrecht 02 March 2017 Beste plek vir 'n wegbreek naweek. Baie goed ingerig vir grooooot groepe en die individu. Worst experience ever!!!!!!! by Adel Terblanche 04 April 2017 This was one of the worst experiences we as a family ever had. When I booked the accommodation, I booked a three bedroom unit with self catering facilities as well as a PRIVATE bathroom.
When we arrived on Friday afternoon, 6.30pm, we tried to drive straight to our accommodation as that was what i was told on the phone during the week. After we couldn't find it we phoned Isa - the owner? and told her we are lost, she said we must come back to the reception area. When we arrived at reception, Johan explained to us how to get to our accommodation. Keeping in mind that it is getting dark and that we are on a big 4x4 farm, we went on our way trying to find our accommodation. After searching for an hour we finally found the place. We were not happy with what we found! The 3 bedroom unit was 3 separate rooms, the kitchen was a separate building about 20m away and the private bathroom was an ablution block also 20m away! Description on internet: This is a comfortable thatched unit equipped with three bedrooms and one bathroom. All linen is provided but bring your own bath towels.
Features: Double beds, Private bathroom, Mountain views, Balcony/patio, Self-catering, Single beds, Garden views, No Smoking in Rooms
We then phoned Isa and explained to her that we are not happy with the accommodation as it is not what we expected because on the website it does not give any indication that the facilities are separate from each other. We also complained about the poor service as to taking us to our accommodation. Since it was already getting dark and we don't know the set up of the farm we expected that they could show the way to our accommodation. The response we got from her was: If we came during daylight we would not get lost.
Then, infront of our accommodation we saw notice boards saying "toilets" with an arrow towards our ablution. When we asked Isa about this she said, that there will be a mountain bike and running event there during the time we are also staying there, BUT it gets better, she said don't worry, you will have the place to yourself for the whole weekend, its only Monday that the other people will be there and she will give us a key for one bathroom. I mean, we paid for the accommodation until Tuesday and now on Monday there will be an event right where we stay with people sharing our facilities??
She said if we are this unhappy she has another place where we can stay but it is small. So she tried to explain where we should go from there. After half an hour searching for the second place we could not find it as it is dark and her directions were not very accurate. What made me upset was that she did not answer her phone -switched off, after we where lost again. We eventually got hold of Johan and he gave us other directions to the second place. So that night after 8 we finally settled in. The next moring we drove to the reception area to discuss everything with Isa. She was not there so we spoke te her on the phone. My husband started saying that we are not happy about how everything turned out so far but if we can get a key for the one bathroom we will be oke with staying and sharing OUR place with the cyclists and runners on Monday. She did not really give my husband a chance to talk and she said that since we are so unhappy we should pack our stuff and leave and that we should meet her in town that she can give our money back. Well, we packed and on our way to town she text us and asked for our banking details. So we send it to her. This was Saturday 18 March. We phoned her again the following week to ask if she already maid the payment, where her answer was no, she will do it when she has time. Its the 4th of April now and still no payment??
I just have to add that on Monday we went to the cycling and running event that was held at the place where we would have stayed. There where more that 400 people there.(If we stayed at this place, they would only have had 4 toilets between the 400 of them) Setting up gazebos every where and selling food and drinks out of the kitchen that was booked for us. So my question is where/what would the event organisers of the competition use to sell their stuff if we did not leave??
This whole experience was very inconvenient, unpacking then packing again, and then trying to find new accommodation on short notice. As well as the fact that Isa said we should meet her in town so that she can give us our money back (R4800)and then after packing up and telling her we are on our way to town she sms's us and asks for banking details and not giving us our money back.
