Founded in the 1960s, Kromrivier is a working farm with a child-friendly farmyard in the heart of the Cederberg. Today, Kromrivier Self-catering is part of one of the oldest tourist destinations in the Cederberg Mountains.
This beautiful part of the world has an aroma of buchu, rooibos tea and cedar wood. It offers guests 14 comfortably furnished Chalets and two Backpacker Chalets, as well as Campsites for those who enjoy camping.
The chalets can each accommodate between three and six people. They have fully equipped kitchens equipped with stoves, ovens, microwaves, fridges and cutlery. We provide bedding on request at an additional fee and each chalet has a fireplace and a private bathroom with a bath and a shower. The Backpacker Chalets and Campsites share ablution facilities. The Campsites are along the banks of the Krom River and there is no electricity, but cooling facilities are available at the office.
Guests can enjoy light meals and beverages at the restaurant and coffee shop during the day. Please note that breakfast, lunch and dinner must be booked in advance.
There are a many activities such as milking the cows, feeding the pigs to bottle-feeding the lambs in lambing season. Horse rides are available daily and guests can go rock climbing, mountain biking, swimming and birdwatching. For those who love astronomy, the Cederberg Observatory is open to the public on Saturdays, weather permitting; the evening entails a short slide show and telescope viewing afterwards.
