Macatoo Camp

Macatoo Camp is situated on the western side of the Okavango Delta. The main attraction is the joy of riding good horses while qualified guides will share with you their intimate knowledge of this wilderness, using the horses to best effect to bring you closer to birds, game and nature.

The accommodation at camp features seven large, comfortable, twin-bedded tents with running water and en-suite bathrooms. Centrally, there is a large furnished mess tent and, tucked away, a private pool. The rate will include all meals and activities for both riders and non-riders. Non-riders can enjoy the many alternative activities on offer including game drives, seasonal boating and fishing.

The horses are much loved, well mannered thoroughbreds, Namibian Hanoverian and Kalahari-Arab crossbreeds. In excellent condition, they range in size from 140 to 170 cm. There is a horse to suit everyone, and a choice of English or Trail saddles.

Riding groups will normally be no more than seven guests. Riders should be aged 12 and over, and weigh less than 15 stone, 210 lbs or 95 kg. Anyone over 70 years needs to be riding fit and strong. Four to six hours per day are spent in the saddle and you should be confident of your ability at all paces. We cannot take beginners.
