Malyo Wilderness Camp

Malyo Wilderness Camp

Caprivi Strip, Caprivi, Namibia
Self-catering from R 90 (family units from R 280)

Malyo Wilderness Camp nestles on the bank of the Kwando River in one of the permanent channels. Located between permanent water and grass-swept plains, we take pride in our commitment to tread lightly on the earth. The result is an organic architecture that blends seamlessly with one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Namibia.

Malyo Wilderness Camp is rewarding, both spiritually and physically and again reinforcing the knowledge in mind. A region that must be preserved at all costs for future generations. The whole area around Malyo is fertile and largely undeveloped, with lush riverine ecosystems supporting abundant game and bird life, with the Mudumu National Park just minutes away.

We can accommodate 50 guests at our campsite with clean ablution facilities. We allow all types of tents and caravans are also welcome. There are no refrigeration facilities. We do supply some light for the showers and toilets, but discourage the use of generators at night.

Lizauli Traditional Village is just north of Malyo and will give you insight into the traditional ways of the Mafwe and Mbukushu people, which this part of the land belongs to. Enjoy traditional musical instruments and dancing, with many mementos to buy from the curio shop.

With myriad fish species, including the fine-toothed squeaker, African pike, infamous tiger and nembwe, angling from Malyo's powerboat is an enjoyable excursion. Malyo is surrounded by an abundant array of wildlife throughout the year, leaving guests enchanted by the changing moods of the Kwando River with its channels, lagoons, shallow wetlands and floodplains.

Beautiful by

That was beautyfull and the night before the croccodile was at the tankstand. The workers were very helpfull and friendly, I visit the camp on the 20/5/2012 again.

Pragtig by

Pragtige plek. Ons gunsteling van die hele toer. Dit ten spyte daarvan dat die palebrug gebreek het! Net jammer die bestuur/werknemers was nie so behulpsaam met die bou van die brug nie.

Restful few days at Malyo by

I thoroughly enjoyed my restful few days at Malyo. There had been negative publicity regarding the rickety bridge on the way in and I was guided across a very safe and easy drift close by which presented me with no difficulty whatsoever.
Staff were attentive, water was hot when required and I thought the shower was one of the best bush showers I have ever experienced in my travels in Africa. The pressure was excellent.

Unfortunately did not get to see the camp at all, because of the reason given under "private message".

Baie geniet by

Ons het dit rerig baie geniet, dankie! Anton Grové

worst that can be by

Fake pictures, no green at all. Need a 4x4 to cross some sands and a river.
