MAROELA CHALETS REVIEWS (84 %) Thank you for the wonderful weekend by Angelique Botha, South Africa 25 June 2007 I really enjoyed staying at Maroela Chalets - it was fabulous and the lady there was so helpful and entertaining and friendly. Bed was so comfy and had EVERYTHING we needed and much much more. Thank you soooo much. Recharge Your Batteries by Alida Liebenberg, South Africa 20 August 2007 This was a wonderful experience. The days that we spent at the chalet was absolutely exquisite. Our host and hostess are the persona of hospitality. Everything was perfect. The chalet comfortable and relaxing. Everything you need is there. This is the place to wind down and relax. We will be back without a doubt. Seeing lions in the Kruger park from Marloth park by Nantes Myburgh 21 July 2017 Loved everything.. from the birds breaking the morning, lions roaring at night time until sunset. The splash pool and airconditioner :) by Cliff Venter 01 April 2018 We had a friendly welcome and everything was clean, neat, fresh and ready for us. It was superb. It was so nice to cool down after a hot tiring day in the splashpool whilst making a braai and simutanously listening to the night sounds. The beds were comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. Wil definetly visit again. Disappointing by Veronica Mccall-peat 05 May 2018 We arrived at Maroela chalets on Saturday 21 April and left a day early on Sunday 29 April 2018. The chalet was clean and comfortable and the sounds of lions and hippos at night could make this a great place to stay. Unfortunately though this establishment is under new ownership ( since February 2018) and the new owner has a lot to learn about the hospitality industry. When we mentioned that excessive noise made by the gardener on a Sunday afternoon was not ideal. Her response was that its not her fault that he could only work on a Sunday. The garden cuttings removed during the bush clearing were dumped next to the driveway which is the main entrance to the chalets. Towels were replaced with mismatched towels on our 4th day and toilet paper wasn't replenished so we bought our own. There are odd teaspoons, forks, dessert spoons & steak knives. When we accidentally broke a dinner plate, and told her the following morning she was visibly angry, and told us we had a problem and had better find a replacement cause she had bought everything in sets, which was utter nonsense. (We bought 4 plates to replace the one we'd broken) Whilst looking for a breakage policy we were interested to note in the file that the certificate for the 3 Star rating awarded by Tourism Grading Council of South Africa was valid until 31 July 2016. On the Thursday the drain outside the kitchen / bathroom was blocked overflowing and smelled shocking. My husband reported this to Elsabe who called the gardener/handyman Vusi. He struggled for 2 hours and eventually a plumber was called who spent a little over an hour trying to unblock the drain. We realise that drains get blocked but took offence when we were asked if we'd thrown oil or food down the drain. We have photos to prove that our disappointment was totally warranted, and will be writing a more detailed letter to Safari about all these issues and Elsabe Smit abrasive manner.
