Marshall Farm

Marshall Farm is a traditional thatch family-friendly farmhouse in Vermaaklikheid. The farmhouse is 30 yards from the river, and has an enchanting beautiful wind free outdoor lounge/braai area on a jetty connecting you to the river. The Duiwenshok River is one of the Overberg's best kept secrets, approximately 3,5 hours from the bustle of Cape Town, this delightful hideaway is seemingly untouched by the hand of time.

The accommodation comprises 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and open-plan living area. The first bedroom contains a king-size bed and the second bedroom has a queen-size bed with twin single beds in a mezzanine. The third bedroom features a queen-size bed and single bed, and the fourth bedroom has twin single beds. The bathrooms are shared and fitted with a bath or shower. A fold out sofa bed is available in the lounge for 2 additional guests.

The kitchen is well-equipped to cater to guests' self-catering needs. Additional facilities include a 2 braai areas, 1 at the house and 1 at the river, as well as a TV with a DSTV access point. Guests must bring their own decoder and smart card. Safe parking is available.

The farm has activities such as swimming, cycling, fishing, boating, canoeing, mountain biking, hiking, and bird watching available for guests' enjoyment.

Contact Jan the manager when you turn off the N2. He will meet you to open the house and show you the facilities. He can also help with direction difficulties and on request have a fire going for you when you arrive.

The house is cleaned before arrival and after departure as part of the rental. However if you prefer NOT to wash dishes/ make beds or clean up during your stay, a cleaning service may be arranged from Elmarie at 200 rand per morning, Washing is 50 rand per load.

The owner suggests that you may want to bring your own drinking water, Water (heated with a gas geyser) for bathing and showering is from a spring, and not normal municipal supply.
